Carbon Balancing
If you and your organisation want to make a real positive contribution to protecting endangered environments and eco-systems in the UK or around the world, we offer carbon balancing schemes to help you towards being carbon neutral.
Carbon balancing enables all individuals and organisations to make a conscious and responsible choice to offset their residual greenhouse gas emissions.
There is an unavoidable amount of carbon emissions released in the production of paper but you can offset this with a carbon offsetting strategy.
How does it work?
Paper purchased under the carbon offsetting initiative with Cactus Graphics has the amount of carbon used in the production process analysed and an associated cost for carbon offset is calculated. The contribution is then donated to The World Land Trust, Forest Carbon or the Woodland Trust who use this to protect endangered environments and plant new forest trees.
The Benefits
Aside from the positive impact and environmental benefits from supporting the World Land Trust your organisation will receive a World Land Trust logo that can be added to the printed material the paper was used for.
In addition, you will also receive a World Land Trust certificate that details the amount of CO2 you have balanced and notification of how your donation has been used.
More about the World Land Trust
The World Land Trust is an international conservation charity based in the UK. Its goals are to protect the world’s most biologically significant and threatened habitats. Patrons of the charity include Sir David Attenborough, Steve Backshall, David Gower and Chris Packham.
Since formation in 1989 the World land Trust has purchased more than 2,200,000 acres of tropical forest and threatened habitats. The charity has formed wildlife corridors, encouraged local management of reserves, influenced governments and promoted carbon balancing.
More about Forest Carbon
Forest Carbon was founded in 2006 and has become a leader in establishing voluntary carbon woodland restoring peatlands here in the UK.
Paper purchased under the Forest Carbon scheme helps you offset the carbon used in production.
1.5 tonnes of paper will lead to the planting of 4 trees. Forest Carbon has planted over 8 million trees on the UK since 2006. Meaning that over 2.5million tonnes of CO2 has been removed from the atmosphere.
There are many benefits for your organisation by obtaining your paper through the Forest Carbon scheme. The contribution is recognised with a certificate showing the amount of CO2 you have balanced with the number of trees you have contributed.
Your woodland carbon credits will also be certified by the government backed UK Woodland Carbon Code.
Your contributions could also lead to signage at your projects and invites to special promotional events.
More about The Woodland Trust
The Woodland Trust was formed in 1972 and is the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity.
The UK is currently has woodland cover of 13%. If the UK is to reach its carbon net zero target by 2050, that coverage needs to increase to 19%. The current woodland coverage for the rest of the EU is 37%.
Woodland Carbon is an initiative that sees the Trust plant trees native to the UK to offset unavoidable carbon emissions and reduce the carbon footprint of many organisations.
Buy creating sustainable woodland that puts nature as the main focal point the Trust is planting trees that will naturally capture carbon from the atmosphere whilst benefitting wildlife and society too.
By choosing The Woodland Trust as your beneficiary you will be helping the Trust support sustainable forest here in the UK.
